Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium attracts tourists from every walk of life. The Planetarium presents astronomical facts in an exciting way, which makes it easy for visitors to gather knowledge about stars, planets and astronomical facts, with dome diameter of 15.0 metres and seating capacity of 210, the planetarium organises shows to witness night sky, sky-theatre shows, constellation pictures and more. This landmark features a Science Centre and a Science Park. The Science Park within the planetarium premises exhibits models of DNA, Resonant Swings and Whispering Dishes. At the park, visitors can also see model of a Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle (PSLV), Sun Dial and Giant Kaleidoscope. Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE) along with Association of Bangalore Amateur Astronomers (ABAA) organises ‘Know Your Stars’ activity on first Sunday of every month. The activity features night simulation, lecture sessions and observation of astronomical objects using telescopes.

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium was founded in the year 1989 by the Bangalore City Corporation, the planetarium aims at disseminating knowledge regarding science and solar system. In 1992, the Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE) was entrusted the responsibility to look after the administration.
