Jalor is a city that is located in the Jalor district of the state of Rajasthan. The city is located near the River Sukhi. The city is an ancient place, and it was known as Jabalipura in ancient times. The city was a flourishing town in the 9th century and many interesting buildings and sites have been built over the years. The main attraction in the city of Jalor is the fort which stands on a hillock called Songir. The place has been under both Rajput and Muslim rule and different influences can be seen in the area. It is a popular tourist destination in the state and the building is an impressive structure. The fort is said to be impregnable. The unique feature of the fort is that, it has a mosque, a Hindu temple and a Jain temple located inside. There are many Jain temples that one can see in and around the city and these were built in varying periods. Sire Mandir and Malik Shah Mosque are the other important places in the city of Jalor. The cannon building center called Topekkana is also an interesting place to visit. The city of Jalor experiences extreme temperatures and the conditions are generally dry. Summers are extremely hot and the region experiences draught like conditions. Rainfall is very limited in this region. Winters are harsh and this season is also dry. The best time to visit the place is from the months of October to February, as this is the main season for tourists.

By Air : The closest airport is located at Jodhpur and this is the most feasible option if you are arriving by air. The airport is also reasonably well connected to the rest of the state. Frequent flights arrive at the place from cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai and Delhi. Taxis can be hired from the airport or booked through the hotels. Booking taxis through hotels is a safer option and they charge around Rs 7 per km.
By Train : The Jalor station has a meter gauge line and it is located along the Raniwara to Samdara line. The nearest major station is the Jodhpur railway station. Taxis are available at the station as well.
By Bus : Buses are available from different places in the state such as Udaipur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Sirohi to the city of Jalor. This is the cheapest option of transport available and the buses are frequent as well. Tickets cost between Rs 50 and 100 from the various cities. Autos are available from the bus terminus to the city center.
