It is the only international airport in the state of Rajasthan. International flights from the airport started after it got recognition as an international airport on 29 December 2005. The civil apron can accommodate a total of 14 A320 aircrafts and at once and the new terminal building can handle up to 1000 passengers. Planning is going on for the expansion of the runway to 12,000 ft (3,658 m) and also to extend the terminal building so that it can accommodate 1,000 passengers per hour.
