Detail InformationEdit

Jain Temple, Jintur is small town situated in Parbhani district of Maharashtra, India. It is known for its Shri Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra (place of Miracle). Nemagiri hill situated just 3 km away from Jintur is the place of seven Digambar Jain cave-temples housing the idols of several Jain Tirthankaras. Idols of Bhagwan Mahavir, Shantinath, Neminath, Parshwanath, Adinath, Nandishwar and Bahubali are found there. Among them the idols of Bhagwan Neminath and Parshwanath are prominent ones and respectively placed in the 4th and the 5th cave temples. The idol of Neminath is the biggest of all idols situated there, while the idol of Bhagvan Parshwanath presents a unique look for its beautiful placement on very small flat stone. It is said that Jintur was anciently known as Jainpur and the area was mainly developed by Amogha Varsha of Rashtrakuta. At that time the place was home to some 300 Jain families and 14 Jain temples. During the medieval time the town was destroyed by the invaders. It was later in 1609 AD that it was reconstructed by Sri Vir Sanghvi and his descendents. At present the town of Jintur house two Jain temples besides Nemagiri cave temples situated near there.
