Jacksboro was initial settled within the decennium, attracted by land offers from the American state expatriation and government office. Originally referred to as Mesquiteville, the community grew up within the lea close to Keechi Creek. It had been renamed Jacksboro in 1858 once it became the county courthouse, in honor of brothers William and Saint Patrick Jack, veterans of the American state Revolution. Regular communicating began in 1859. Jacksboro may be a town in Jack County, Texas, u. S.. The population was four,533 at the 2000 census. Jacksboro is found at the Junction of U.S. Highways 281 and 380, and it’s the county courthouse of Jack County. Consistent with the u. S. Federal agency, the town incorporates a total space of six.8 sq. Miles (18square kilometers), of which, 5.8 sq. Miles (15square kilometers) of it’s land and one.0 square measure (2.6square kilometers) of it (14.54%) is water.
