Detail InformationEdit
Iximche could be a pre-Columbian Mesoamerican archeological web site within the western highlands of Guatemala. Iximche was the capital of the Late Postclassic Kaqchikel Maya kingdom from 1470 till its abandonment in 1524.
The design of the location enclosed variety of pyramid-temples, palaces and 2 Mesoamerican ballcourts. Excavators uncovered the poorly preserved remains of painted murals on a number of the buildings and ample proof of human sacrifice. The ruins of Iximche were declared a Guatemalan memorial within the Sixties.
The site incorporates a tiny deposit displaying variety of items found there, as well as sculptures and ceramics.
