Featuring the large American crocodiles and the smaller endangered counterpart, the Cuban crocodiles, Isla de la Juventud Island is a popular tourist attraction near Havana. Earlier used as a place of exile, this second largest and the westernmost Cuban island with a string of beaches now offers plenty of touristic activities like fishing, boating, scuba diving, hiking alongside an active nightlife. Connected to the mainland by regular ferry, bus and plane services Isla de la Juventud is located 71 kilometers to the south of Havana. Apart from Nueva Gerona, which serves as the main town on the island, other Isla de la Juventud tourist attractions include the Presideo Modelo model prison, the Museo Provincial, Parque Julio Antonio Mella, the Art Deco Cine Caribe, Jungla de Jones, Criadero de Cocodrilos breeding farm and Cueva de Punta del Este caves.
