Originally leased in 1947, TIP began because the Children’s Theatre of Raleigh, Inc. Throughout the first 70s, its name was modified to Theatre within the Park so as to mirror its expanded programming, location and new “home” within the territorial Armory building placed in Raleigh’s scenic Pullen Park. The theatre is in-door, air conditioned and contains a commodiousness of roughly 250. In 2004, the power was renamed “The Ira David Wood III Pullen Park Theatre,” to mirror the decades of labor done by its administrator, Ira David Wood III.
