Indore, the Holkar City of India, is best visited anytime during the weather. While in Indore, one should not miss the Old palace or Rajwads and the famous Kanch Mandir. Other places of tourist interest include Lal Bagh Palace, Seth Hukanchand Temple, Gandhi Hall, Chhatri Bagh and Bada Ganpati Temple. Some of the tourist attractions just an excutrsion away from Indore are Maheshwar famous for forts and temples, Kasturbagram known for the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust and the temple town of Omkareshwar. The city has its own airport and is well connected to the major cities of India. Also having a rail head, there are well linked roads too that can be used to reach Indore.

Indore got its name from the 18th-century Indreshwar Temple. Indor was once the city of the Holkars and was built by Ahilya Bai, the Holkar Queen. Located in the valley of River Narmada, Indore has number of historical monuments and temples associated with the Holkars. today, it is an important industrial city of India and gives the immpression of a booming city.

By Air : Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore is just 10 km from city centre. Indore is air connected to major cities in India by public and private domestic airlines. Indore is connected to places like Jaipur, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Bhopal and Chennai. Taxi services are available from Indore airport to city, costing about Rs 200. International travelers can get connecting flights to Indore from Delhi (800 km) or Mumbai (655 km) airport.

By BUS : Indore is well connected by state road transport public bus services. Regular bus services are available from Ujjain (55 km), Delhi (800 km) and Mumbai (655 km) to Indore Ujjain. By Other : One can either use taxis or auto rickshaws to move around in Indore. Point-to-point tempo service is also available. The main tempo stops are at the railway station and Gandhi hall. Auto rickshaw fares may range from Rs 20 to 100, depending on the distance involved. There are no separate night fares, and auto rickshaws can be a safe mode of travel during night time, even though the city is very secure. There are share auto rickshaws from specific locations, and these are very cheap.
