Detail InformationEdit

This church is one of the oldest in the districts between the provinces of Tarragona and Lleida. Its external appearance resembles the Cistercian style, probably because of the influence of the nearby Poblet Monastery. It is made of smooth light ochre limestone ashlar blocks, and its simple lines, strong exterior buttresses and lack of moulding and other decorative elements make it look sober and solid.

It has a basilical floor plan with one nave with three sections, roofed by simple cross vaults, and it has a polygonal sanctuary with five radial chapels built between the buttresses. The bell tower rises up above the main façade. The doorway, with a pointed arch, has several archivolts resting on slender columns and capitals with sculpted historiated motifs and a dust cover on cantilevers. The side doorway, which was the old door to the graveyard, is a semicircular arch on voussoirs, over a portico with a diminished arch.
