The Hurŭng Royal grave may be a 15th-century sepulcher situated in Ryongjong-ri, Kaepung-gun close to Kaesong, DPRK. The positioning consists of 2 separate burial mounds, that contain the remains of Jongjong, the second king of the Joseon kinfolk and son of its founder Taejo, furthermore because the body of his partner, Queen Jongan. Construction on the tombs began once Jongan’s death in 1412, and was solely completed once Jongjong himself died in 1419. Each tombs carries with it a mound ringed with a incised granite base; they’re encircled by statues of the twelve zodiac animals. The “spirit road” up to the tombs is lined with statues of military officers and Confucian officers.
Despite being the grave of a Joseon monarch, the positioning was excluded from the globe Heritage website “Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty” because it is found in DPRK. It’s one amongst solely 2 royal tombs from that kinfolk within the country; the opposite, Cherung, belongs to Queen Sinui, partner of the dynasty’s founder Taejo, WHO died before her husband became king and affected the capital to capital of South Korea.
