Based in 1842 as depression Union Seminary within the historical settlement of Botetourt Springs, it’s one among the oldest establishments of upper education for ladies within the u. S..Hollins has since evolved into a full university with over one thousand registered collegian and graduate students. As Virginia’s 1st leased women’s school, all collegian programs ar female-only. Men ar admitted to the graduate-level programs.Hollins is thought for its collegian and graduate writing programs, that have made Joseph Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Annie Dillard, current poet Natasha Trethewey, and Henry S. Taylor.
