Hohenwald could be a town in and also the seat of Lewis County, Tennessee. The population was three,754 at the 2000 census. The name “Hohenwald” could be a German word meaning “High Forest”. The city was based in 1878 and later united with a city named “New Switzerland” to the south. New Suisse was based in 1894 by Swiss immigrants in conjunction with the N.C.&St.L. Railroad. consistent with the u. s. office, town encompasses a total space of eleven.3 sq. kilometers (4.4 sq mi), all land.
