Detail InformationEdit

The “Kapelle zum Heiligen Magnus auf dem Ranken” was chartered for the first time in 1348. It is unknown when it was built. Although it has been partly torn down, today it serves as a mortuary. The construction of the second church was probably started in 1498 or 99. Today this building, boasting frescos by Christopg Anton Mayr and the oldest existing view of Ranggen, serves as a vestry. It is counted among the most beautiful in Tirol.
Ranggen owes the third and present church to the curator Johann Stefan von Reinhart, who took on pastoral care in 1773 and had an impressive Parish Church built at his own expense. It was constructed by the master builder and plasterer Franz Singer from Götzens after the plans of Georg Tangls between 1775-1778. It was consecrated by the Prince Bishop Josef Graf von Spaur on July 10, 1780. The altarpieces were created by Josef Anton Zoller, the ceiling frescos were painted by Franz Anton Zeiler from Reutte in 1778. Dr. Erich Saurwein has been the priest of Ranggen since 1973.
