Towns and Villages Hjørring is the main town and the administrative seat of Hjørring Municipality, Region Nordjylland, Denmark. The population amounts to 24,762 inhabitants (1 January 2011). It is one of Denmark’s oldest towns, and it celebrated its 750-year anniversary as a market town in 1993. There are good educational opportunities in the town including a gymnasium (the Danish equivalent of a high school or pre-college), a business and technical college and a nursing school.
