Hillsborough, oft spelled Hillsboro, may be a city in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, us. The population was half dozen,011 at the 2010 census. The cities were renamed following the 1741 institution of recent Hampshire as a separate province. Settled in 1741, the city was granted in 1748 by Governor Benning Wentworth as “Hillsborough,” named for Sir Wills Hill, peer of Hillsborough. It’d be incorporated in 1772 by Governor John Wentworth.
