The Hill Building may be a 17-story fashionable skyscaper placed in Durham, North geographical area. In-built 1935-1937, hill Building was designed by the big apple town design firm Shreve, Lamb & Harmon, best acknowledged for the look of the Empire State Building. Named for John Sprunt Hill, and engineered to accommodate the Durham Bank & financial institution, the building is outfitted with art movement ornamentation, interior fluted doors associated an exquistirely crafted letter box.
The building is within the heart of downtown Durham, placed at the intersection of Main and Corcoran Streets. Hill building was home to Durham-based Central geographical area Bank and Trust from 1961 till its 2005 purchase by SunTrust Banks, that had its native headquarters within the building till 2006.
Greenfire Development, that bought hill Building in 2006, needs to renovate the building to convert it to a 165-room luxury building. The project has been delayed as a result of the economic downswing. The calculable price of the project is $52.7 million, with $25 million of that seemingly to be procured victimisation federal recovery zone bonds.
