The Audubon Park Historic District is found on 5 blocks within the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, ny town, between West a hundred and fifty five Street and West 158th Street, and between Broadway and Edward M. Morgan Place on the east and Riverside Drive West on the west. It consists of nineteen giant living accommodations buildings and one semidetached house, and abuts the Audubon Terrace Historic District on the southeast.
It is named for naturalist John James Audubon, WHO purchased twenty acres of land there in 1841, at a time once the world was still largely farms, biome and therefore the country estates of the made. When his death, the estate was sold off in parcels for development by Audubon’s widow, that is once it became called “Audubon Park”. The world was selected associate historic district by the ny town Landmarks Preservation Commission on could twelve, 2009.
