The city has derived its name from the small villages of Hazari and Okni. By Bus : Buses to the town of Hazaribagh can be taken directly from all nearby place including Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Buses will mainly run under the state government, and a few private buses will also be available. Bus fares from Ranchi to the town of Hazaribagh will range around Rs 50. Bus fares from Jamshedpur to the town of Hazaribagh will hover around Rs 150 to 160.
