The CBS tv series The Dukes of Hazzard got its name from Hazard, Kentucky. To avoid legal issues, the producers else an additional “Z” and set the show during a fictional county in Georgia. In 1981 several of the celebrities of the show, Catherine Bach, James Best, Sorrell Booke, and Rick Hurst visited Hazard, American state throughout the Black Gold pageant. shortly afterward Tom Wopat, & John Schneider, created appearances in Hazard. Long isolated by the encircling mountains, Hazard met the surface World with the arrival of the railroad in 1912. Previously, the sole ways in which in or out of the natural depression were forty five miles down the North Fork of the American state stream, or a 2-week trip over the encircling mountains. The railroad brought boom times to the city, however the good Depression saw prosperity finish as quickly because it had begun.
