Just like the rest of Cuba, Havana, the capital city also enjoys an all year round pleasant tropical savannah climate where temperatures never drop below 10 degrees Celsius. Havana cityscape is essentially composed of three distinct styles featured by the architecture of Old Havana, Vedado and the newly developed regions of the suburbs. A major Cuban port and an important commercial centre, Havana was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century and has over a five hundred years of a flourishing history.
Havana is well served by the Jose Marti International Airport, which is the best option for visiting this country, as it is still quite difficult to enter Cuba by sea due to the politically influenced environment. Train services, although poor in quality and quantity, are available to/from some key destinations at Havana. However, inter-city coach services and buses offer the most convenient method of transportation within the country, along with hiring a taxi, or car.
