The Harry S President Bridge may be a vertical carry rail lift bridge over the Missouri River connecting Jackson County, Missouri with Clay County, Missouri in Kansas town, Missouri. It’s a 427 foot main span, and is that the tenth longest span within the us.
The bridge was named on might twenty three, 1945, for Jackson County native Harry S. President United Nations agency had simply become President. It had been designed by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (“Milwaukee Road”) and Chicago, town and Pacific Railroad (“Rock Island Line”) and connected to the Kansas town Terminal Railway network through Kansas town. It’s currently employed by the freight trains of the Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad to cross the Missouri River.
