Hannah Duston Memorial was erected in 1874 and is that the 1st publically-funded sculpture in New Hampshire. Settled on alittle island at the confluence of the Contoocook and Merrimack Rivers, the sculpture commemorates the escape of Hannah Duston, WHO was captured in 1697 in Haverhill, Massachusetts throughout the French and Indian War. A brief walk from the car park brings guests to a reasonably picnic spot on the shore of the watercourse.
