Hannah Duston Memorial was erected in 1874 and is that the initial publically-funded sculpture in New Hampshire. Situated on atiny low island at the confluence of the Contoocook and river Rivers, the sculpture commemorates the escape of Hannah Duston, WHO was captured in 1697 in Haverhill, Massachusetts throughout the French and Indian War. A brief walk from the car park brings guests to a reasonably picnic spot on the shore of the watercourse.
