Haldia is a city that is situated in the state of West Bengal in the Purba Mendipur region. The city is one of the main sea ports in the region and it is present near the mouth of the Hooghly River. There are many places of tourist interest that are located here and these include historical monuments, temples and various sightseeing places. The region is perfect place to relax and escape the hectic life of the city. The main place of interest in the region is the Mahishadal Rajbari. This is an estate that was established in the 16th century and there are two sprawling palaces that are present here. The buildings are still in excellent condition and it is a good place to visit. One can also see a Gopaljew Temple in the palace complex. Some of the other temples that are located here two Shiva Temples, a Jagannath Temple and Natmandir. One can also visit the 5th century palace that is present here known as the Tamluk Palace. This is primarily in ruins at the moment. The ancient palace has withstood 2500 years of turmoil and is an example of the architectural brilliance of that period. The climatic conditions of the city of Haldia can be classsifed as a tropical monsoon type and the conditions vary according to the different seasons. Summers are hot and humid for the most part. Humidity is also a factor in these parts due to the proximity of the ocean. Monsoon season is long and one can expect perennial rainfall during this season. Winters are mild and this is the best time to visit the place.

Haldia is a city and a municipality in Purba Medinipur in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a major riverport and industrial belt located approximately 50 kilometres southwest of Calcutta near the mouth of the Hooghly River, one of the distributaries of the Ganges.The Haldia Township is bordered by the Haldi River an offshoot of the Ganges River. The riverside in Haldia is a favorite destination for residents and one can see people strolling down the riverside during the evenings. A catamaran service used to operate from Kolkata to Haldia, but was withdrawn due to its high price and a decreasing number of passengers.

The airport is connected to around 25 places across the country and this is the best option for travelers who are arriving by air. There are frequent flights from places such as Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Guwahati amongst many others. You can also travel from international cities such as Bangkok, Paro, Frankfurt and Singapore to Kolkata. Taxis are the best way to reach Haldia from the airport and they charge around Rs 7 per kilometer.
