Guruvayurappan Temple is one the fourth most visited the temple in India attracting thousands of devotees every day. The temple is also called “Bhooloka Vaikuntam” and a visit to this temple is considered to be very auspicious.The residing God of this temple is Bal Gopalan, a name of Lord Krishna describing him as a child. The shrine is decorated with images and mural paintings of Krishnaleelakal which refers to the childhood of Krishna. It is at this place that Krishnattam Kali originated, which is a folk art of Kerala. The temple also organises Carnatic music and other traditional dance forms of Kerala. The temple conducts weddings and Choroonu almost every day. Free meals are offered to the devotees two-times a day. The festival of Shiveli, where procession with temple elephants carrying the residing deity, is not to be missed if you are in Guruvayur during that time.

Taxi : Guruvayur is well connected by a road network and national highways. The tourist will reach to Guruvayur by taxi. the traditional Indian taxi charges of Rupees eight to twenty are charged for each Kilometre.
Bus : There are bus services connecting Guruvayur with all important towns in Kerala and the neighboring Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The vehicles terminate in the vicinity of either the eastern or western gate of the temple. Both KSRTC and private busses offer interstate services to all major South Indian cities like Madras, Madurai, Palani, Salem, Coimbatore, Thiruchandoor, Mysore, Mangalore, Uduppi, Mookambika etc. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus station is about 200 metres from the western gopuram, while the private bus station is close by Manjulal on he eastern side.One will have therefore no difficulty in locating the shrine.
Train : Guruvayur has its own railway station named as Guruvayur railway station and is connected by Ernakulum Junction and Thrissur Railway Station. There are many trains that connect Guruvayur to several important places such as Trivandrum, Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy and Bangalore.
Air : The nearest International Airport is Nedumbassery International Airport, Kochi, roughly one and a half hour drive from Guruvayur. It is well connected to the cities in India and abroad like Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Calicut, Doha, Dubai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad etc.
