Greenspond is one amongst the communities that comprise a locality on the northeast coast of the Island of Newfoundland, referred to as Bonavista North. These communities have a shared history in this they were settled by individuals from England, preponderantly from the geographical area – Dorset, Devon, Somerset and Hampshire.
Greenspond is one amongst the oldest ceaselessly underpopulated outports in Newfoundland, having been settled within the 1690s. Within the initial a hundred years when settlement, the individuals of Greenspond lived from the bounty of the ocean. The community thrived and have become a serious commerce centre owing to its proximity to and its position on the most ocean lanes and was referred to as the “Capital of the North”.
