The gorge parkland Superintendent’s Residence may be a parkland Service Rustic vogue building, designed in 1921 by Daniel Ray Hull of the parkland Service Branch of Plans and styles because the park’s 1st headquarters building. The traveller info space was supported by a donation from the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper. The building was altered in 1931 by Thomas Chalmers Vint to be the park superintendent’s residence, outdated as headquarters by the gorge Park Operations Building it’s enclosed within the gorge Village National Historic Landmark District.
As originally engineered the structure was a comparatively tiny two-story, L-shaped body building with a stone ground level and a frame second floor. Once it had been reborn to a residence in 1931 it had been enlarged in a very sympathetic manner, holding its original style vocabulary. The most living accommodations square measure on the higher level, with eight rooms together with the front room, feeding space, kitchen, bedrooms and loos, with stone fireplaces within the feeding and living rooms. The most entrance is from a structure off the front room. The downstairs options a rec room with another stone fire, at one time the traveller info workplace. There remainder of the lower level is occupied by a spread of rooms and winding corridors that hook up with a two-car garage.
