Gorumara National Park is a National Park in northern West Bengal, India. Located in the Terai region of the Himalayan foothills, it is a medium-sized park with grasslands and forests. It is primarily known for its population of Indian Rhinoceros. The park has been declared as the best among the protected areas in India by the Ministry of Environment and Forests for the year 2009.

HistoryEdit
Gorumara was a reserve forest since 1895. The park was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1949, on account of its breeding population of Indian Rhinoceros. It was declared an Indian National Park on January 31, 1994. Originally as small as 7 km², Gorumara has grown by incorporating neighbouring lands to about 80 km².

By Air : The Bagdogra Airport has excellent connectivity to several Indian cities and one can travel to the place from Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Guwahati. Taxis are available from the airport to the national park and they cost around Rs 7 per kilometer.
By Train : The Jalpaiguri Railway Station is the nearest station and this is the most suitable option for those who wish to travel by rail. The station is well connected to many Indian cities and these include Cochin, Bangalore, New Delhi and Kolkata. Taxis are available at the station and these can be used to reach the national park.

By Taxi : Gorumara National Park is well connected by a road network and national Highway. The tourist can reach to Gorumara National Park by taxi. The normal Indian taxi charges of Rupees 8 to 20 will be charged for each km.
