Gorubathan is a small market town that is located in the Darjeeling district in West Bengal. The town is renowned for its natural beauty and there are various sites in and around the place that travelers can visit. Gorubathan is known as Sombare among the locals and the weekly market is specialty of the town. There are ruins of small fort called the Dalim Fort which is situated on top a hill. There are hills surrounding the small village and they are a good place for trekking and nature walks. The forest bungalow is the only good place for accommodation. This has to be booked in advance as it is demand. There are some private accommodations that are being developed and they are also a good place to stay. The forest department is focusing on increasing activities such as trekking and mountain climbing. The place is situated near Siliguri and travelers can reach the using jeeps and private vehicles. The 50 km trip from Silguri passes through some excellent scenery. The town is situated near the River Neora and there are many picnic spots in the surrounding areas. Efforts are being made to transform Gorubathan into a tourist destination by many parties. Set amidst pristine green hills and situated along the course of the River Neora experiences some of the best climatic conditions.
