Gorai is a small village that is located in the North Western part of the state of Maharashtra. Gorai is a place that is known for its beaches and there are long stretches of empty beaches in the village. However the Arabian Sea around Mumbai and its nearby areas cannot be used for swimming due to the pollution from the cities. You must visit Global Vipassana Pagoda to witness the developments and its unique nature for getting selected as one of the seven wonders of the state of Maharashtra. Gorai has a substantial Christian population and the religion was introduced by the Portuguese when they reached the place in the 16th century. Gorai has three main churches, the oldest among them is the Reis Magos and this is situated near the Vairalla Tank. The new parish church and the Infant Jesus Chapel are the other churches that are located in the town. The new parish church is also called the Three Magi Church and this was built in 1810. Infant Jesus Chapel is a relatively new church and was built near the ruins of an old church. These are interesting places to visit in Gorai. Gorai has not been affected by the fast pace of city life and still retains its old world charm and laid back atmosphere. This is a good place to escape the hustle and bustle of the main cities and unwind. Gorai is also known for its all night parties. Gorai experiences a tropical monsoon type climate and summers are extremely hot and humid.

By Air : The nearest airport is the Chatrapathi Shivaji International Airport which is located outside Mumbai. If you are planning to arrive by air this is the best option. There are private taxis and prepaid taxis that are available from the Mumbai Airport. Mumbai has one of the busiest airports and there are frequent flights from many different countries to the place. Taxis charge around Rs 600 for the return trip. Waiting charges may apply as well.
By Train : The closest railway station is also located at Mumbai. Mumbai is well connected to many parts of the country and trains are a cheap and comfortable option.
By BUS : The Gorai bus terminus is well connected to many parts of the state and there are frequent buses from Mumbai. Tickets cost around Rs 50.
By Taxi : Gorai is well connected by a road network and national Highway. The tourist can reach to Gorai by taxi. The normal Indian taxi charges of Rupees 8 to 20 will be charged for each km.
