The village was named for a person named valley Edward Wood. The founding father of the village was Edward J. Wood, successor to Mormon leader Charles Ora Card, the founding father of Cardston. Each valley and Edward Wood were from Salt Lake town, Utah, and area unit buried in Cardston. The recent name for the village was Glenwoodville till 1979.
