Gistel is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the city of Gistel proper and the towns of Moere, Snaaskerke and Zevekote. The total area is 42.25 square kilometers which gives a population density of 263 inhabitants per square kilometers. The German town of Büdingen is its twin town.
