Girnar are sacred to pilgrims of both Hindu and Jain faith. In fact, Girnar has been a sacred place well before the Dholavira and Mohen-jo- daro period and its origin can be traced back to the Vedas and other holy scriptures of various Indus Valley based religions.The Girnar mountain in the neighbourhood of Junagadh in Saurashtra is referred to as Ujjayantagiri or Raivatagiri in the Scriptures. In the present day, Girnar is one of India’s biggest pilgrimage places. A race is conducted every year, the race involves climbing to the top of the 8,000 steps. A large number of people take part in it, and is the major attraction here.

By Air : The region of Girnar does not have an airport.

By Train : You can also opt for trains to the town of Junagadh from other nearby locations within and away from the state. Trains can be taken to Junagadh, from where you can easily reach Girnar through buses. Train fares from the town of Rajkot to Junagadh will cost around Rs 80 for day trains and Rs 120 for a more comfortable mode of travel. Trains are a cheaper option, but tickets need to be booked in advance.

By BUS : local transport like buses will be available from Junagadh to Girnar.
