Detail InformationEdit
The Gem Theatre in metropolis (built 1927) homes a 2 level theatre with ancient row and aisle seating and intimate stage-level seating at cabaret tables. It shares a lobby with the cabaret vogue Century Theatre (built 1903). The theatre has stylings of Spanish Revival design. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
In 1902, the 20 th Century Club, a gaggle of cultural, socially distinguished girls, designed a Mission-style building to accommodate their club. The building, currently the Century Theatre, is made of red brick cut with white arenaceous rock. The primary floor originally housed a feeding area, whereas the second floor housed a 400-seat area.
