Detail InformationEdit

The Ganesh Temple, Tasgaon is also known as Ganapati Panchayatan. Panchayatan means a group of five deities. Adi Shankaracharya introduced the idea of having five deities for worship. At Tasgaon (which is a famous grapes-producing centre), in Sangli district there is such grouping of five deities. The famous Ganesh Mandir at tasgaon having magnificient ‘Gopuram’ , was built by Marathi Senapati Parshurambhau Patwardhan. The ‘Gopuram’ resembles with those found in the South Indian temples. A unique feature of Lord Ganesh idol is that its trunk faces at right directions. An annual ‘Rath Yatra’ is held during the ganesh festival.
