The temple consists of one huge monument and a surrounding garden that families use as a picnic spot. The Children’s Park in Gandhinagar is yet another famous destination, and this park has boating facilities and also a mini train for kids. Sarita Udyan is a picnic spot that is popular among the locals, and this is located adjacent to a deer park, which is another must see location. Sonamarg experiences cool climatic conditions to snow covered chilly periods.

Gandhinagar got its name from the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhinagar is an important city in Gujarat in India. The city was established around 1960. The city got an identity of its own when the state of Mumbai was divided into two separate states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Mumbai since then became a part of Maharashtra and Gandhinagar became a part of Gujarat as a state. Gandhinagar emerged as the new capital for the state of Gujarat as the situation demanded for a new capital city.

By Air : Gandhinagar does not have its own airport, the international airport located in Ahmedabad lies near the city and flights can be taken to this airport, from where one can reach the city of Gandhinagar. By Train : Trains to the city of Gandhinagar can also be taken to Ahmedabad, which lies near Gandhinagar. The railway station in Ahmedabad has frequent trains to all local destinations like Rajkot, Okha, Gandhidham, Vadodara, Surat, Jamnagar and Somnath.

By BUS : Buses will be available to Ahmedabad and other towns around Gandhinagar for fares of around Rs 50 to 70.

By Taxi : Gandhinagar is well connected by a road network and national highways. The tourist can reach to Gandhinagar by taxi. The normal Indian taxi charges of Rupees 8 to 20 will be charged for each km.

Gandhinagar International Film Festival ; Venue:  N.A. ; Period :  February ; Details:  The three-day-long Gandhinagar International film festival came to a grand close on Sunday. Veteran actors and filmmakers like Satish Kaushik, Om Puri, Shyam Benegal, Fardeen Khan and others were present at the closing ceremony of the festival hosted by City Pulse Institute of Film and Television. More than 35 movies were screened and enjoyed by the audiences during the festival. The presence of well-known Bollywood and international personalities as well as the horde of movie buffs at the event clearly showed the success of the film festival. Filmmaker Shyam Benegal also went on to announce at the closing ceremony that this film festival will take place every year in the month of February.

Navratri ; Venue:  N.A. ; Period :  October ; Details:  Navratri (Nine Nights), dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga occurs twice every year and is celebrated with much pomp and show in Gandhinagar. During the nine days of the festival, during which nine different forms of the Goddess is worshipped, people participate in the local cultural dance called Garbha/Dandiya that goes on till late in the evening. It is really a wonderful experience to be a part of these festivities in Gandhinagar.
