Much of Galveston’s trendy economy is focused within the business, health care, shipping and money industries. The 84-acre (340,000 sq. Meters) University of Texas Medical Branch field with associate enrollment of over a pair of,500 students may be a major economic force of the town. Named once Bernardo First State Galvez y national capital, Count of Galvez, Galveston’s initial European settlements on the island were created around 1816. The Port of town was established in 1825 by the Congress of Mexico following its self-made revolution from Kingdom of Spain. The town served because the main port for the Texas Navy throughout the Texas Revolution and later served because the capital of the Republic of Texas. Town may be a coastal town situated on island within the U.S. State of Texas. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the town had a complete population of forty seven,743 inside a section of 208 sq. Miles (540Square kilometers).
