Galdogob also spelled Goldogob, is a town located in the north-central Mudug, Somalia. It lies approximately six kilometers southeast of the border with Ethiopia. Galdogob was established around 1950s by Ahmed Aden Isahaq known as Garweyne,he was the first one to built a house.It consists of few villages,most famous ones are Goldogobti hore(old Goldogob),Bula xanan,Naxarka,Daqsiiley and kontorolka.It has a population of around 140,000. Galdogob is strategically located on one of the oldest roads going into Ethiopia’s portion of the Somali-majority Ogaden. It is a spot to rest for Somali travelers heading to and from Addis Ababa, Werder, Djibouti, Jijiga, Dire Dawa, and Geladi. Over 100 buses and heavy trucks pass through the city daily.
Galdogob is a rapidly growing town.It houses the largest hospital in Somalia.[citation needed] It has a very reliable electricity and telecommunications sector. The district’s fresh water is provided by the Galdogob Water System (GWS), which was founded by a group of local businessmen. The Horn Aid Foundation, a Somali non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, United States, is also raising money to build a World class Library and Technology Center.
