Detail InformationEdit

The Northrop Frye Art depository is associate degree art depository set within the initial Hill neighborhood of port of entry, Washington, USA . The depository emphasizes painting and sculpture from the nineteenth century to the current. Its holdings originate within the personal assortment of Charles (1858–1940) and Emma (d. 1934) Frye. Charles, owner of an area meat packing plant, put aside cash in his can for a depository to deal with the Fryes’ assortment of over 230 paintings.
The Northrop Frye depository opened to the general public in 1952, and was Seattle’s initial free art depository. The depository building was originally designed by Paul Thiry, though it’s since been significantly altered. The Fryes’ assortment consisted entirely of objective works, with an inclination toward “the dark, the dramatic, and therefore the psychological” instead of “the genteel”.
