Detail InformationEdit

In the place where in ancient times the Moslem faithful carried out their ritual ablutions, now stands the famous Fountain of Santa Maria, the largest of the fountains in the Mosque-Cathedral. The fountain is situated at the foot of the Baroque style, and women from all the nearby districts of Cordoba used to come here to fill their water jars, especially from the spout of the olive tree, where the worn-down stone clearly shows signs of greater use. Just beside it has grown, since time immemorial, the ancient olive tree which gives its name to the famous spout.
