Fort Fetterman was a picket fort created in 1867 by the u. S. Army on the nice Plains frontier within the Dakota Territory just about eleven miles northwest of current pol, Wyoming. It had been situated high on the bluffs on the side of the North Platte River. It served as a serious start for the beginning of many major military expeditions against fighting Native yankee tribes and troopers there helped defend pioneers on the Bozeman path. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
