The capital city of Fort De France is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Caribbean. The modern city is blessed with some of the best cultural and natural attractions. The Bibliotheque Schoelcher is one of the top tourist attractions in Fort De France. The beautiful structure featuring vibrant colors and a Byzantine dome was built in Paris and was cut into pieces and brought here via ship.
The building is used as a library and houses several antique books. Balata Church modeled after the famous Sacre-Coeur Basilica in Paris was built in the year 1923 in memory of people who died in the First World War. The church is located to the north of Fort-de-France and attracts numerous visitors towards its beautiful architecture. The ancient Fort St-Louis built in 1640 is another important attraction, renowned for its French architectural design and offers scenic views of the ocean.
