It’s the oldest church congregation in capital of Connecticut.
The capital of Connecticut congregation was originally based as a Reformed congregation in 1636 with Thomas Hooker serving because the initial pastor. The members of the congregation had antecedently migrated from European nation to Massachusetts and spent four years there before deed Massachusetts when a dispute with the Massachusetts government. The recent necropolis adjacent to the building in capital of Connecticut dates to around 1640. This church meeting house dates to 1807 and is that the fourth meeting house to function an area of worship for the congregation. The church meeting house and necropolis were extra to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The congregation is presently attached with the United Church of Christ (UCC).
