Exuma may be a district of the land, consisting of over 360 islands (or cays). The biggest of the cays is nice Exuma, that is thirty seven mi (60 km) long and joined to a different island, very little Exuma by atiny low bridge. The capital and largest town within the district is Saint George city (permanent population one,000), supported 1793 and placed on nice Exuma. The Tropic of Cancer runs across a beach near town. The complete island chain is one hundred thirty mi (209 km) long and twenty seven sq. Mi (72 km²) in space.Exuma was settled in or around 1783 by yankee loyalists fleeing the Revolutionary War. The expatriates brought a cotton plantation economy to the islands. Saint George city was named in honor of King of England, to whom the settlers maintained their loyalty. A number of smaller Cays still stay grandfathered as part or all personal, (still cited as a part of the Exuma-Bahamas Cays). Placed by 3 digit suffix variety (ex.
