Detail InformationEdit

Ethipothala Waterfalls is a union of three minor rivers, namely the Tummala Vagu, Chandravanka Vagu and Nakkala Vagu a tributary of the River Krishna. It is 70 feet (21 m) high river cascade. This cascade is actually a mountain stream that plunges down 22 metres to form a serene lagoon at the foot of the hill. The river then joins the Krishna river after the dam after traveling about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the falls. A strategic view point was created by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department from the adjacent hillock. There are Ranganatha and Dattatreya temples in the vicinity. There is a crocodile breeding centre in the lagoon formed by the falls. The lagoons around the cascade are used for crocodile breeding programme run by the Forest Department of Andhra Pradesh. Ethipothala is home to two beautiful temples, which are located close to the waterfall. The temples of Ranganatha and Dattareyaswamy are situated in a valley surrounded by lush green forest. Adjacent to the waterfall, there is a network of caves that extends all the way to Srisailam. The waterfall is a sight to behold in the evenings, after the sun sets, as the colourful lights decorating the fall come to life and give an astonishing view of the spellbinding beauty of the cascade and its surroundings. Close to Ethipothala, there are many historic Buddhist sites that are worth exploring.
