A gem of a nation along the Baltic Sea within the northeastern Europe, with short summers and severe winters, Estonia is deeply influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. Basically Estonians are Finnish people in origin with an indigenous culture largely built upon the environmental realities and livelihoods prevalent within these areas. One of the most favorite holiday destinations of the British, Estonia has made rapid progress since 1991 after independence, and has managed to free itself from the ill effects of a lengthy crippling Soviet occupation.
Served by the Lennart Meri Tallinn International Airport and a couple of other domestic aviation facilities, Estonia is conveniently accessible through train services from Moscow in Russia. Featuring a dense local network of good roads, Estonia is also reachable by bus services from Kiev, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Warsaw, and several other Baltic and German cities. Moreover, Tallinn is a major sea-port offering ferry services to/from a number of Baltic coastal destinations in Sweden, Germany and Finland.
