The Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist, San Francisco, is that the third oldest church within the Episcopal jurisdiction of Calif.. Supported throughout the Gold Rush era in 1857, the church is presently set within the Mission District of San Francisco. Within the Eighties, the church’s third man of the cloth was concerned in innovation the Mission District’s St. Luke’s Hospital, at the time the sole San-Francisco treatment room to treat Chinese employees. Within the Nineties, the church erected an impressive granite neo-Byzantine basilica, that was dynamited in 1906 to make a hearthbrake throughout the good San Francisco earthquake and fire. The present building dates to 1909 and is within the art form referred to as “Tudor lamp.”
