The town can be found on the southwest border of Fejér County. It became town in 1992. The settlement with more than 7500 inhabitants belonged to Veszprém County until 1950. In 1966 it merged with Balatonbozsok neighboring with it. Both settlements are early origin; our first datum about Enying comes from 1138, about Bozsok from 1238-40.
In the Middle Ages Enying was the domain of the Török family, from the 16th century to 1848 it belonged to the Batthyány family and was the center of their domains in Veszprém, Fejér, Somogy and Tolna counties. The castle of the family in Enying was built in about 1810. One of the buildings of the domain from the 18th century is still standing in Szabadság tér. The Roman catholic Church is a neoclassic monument. The territory and the population of the settlement started increasing from the 17th century and fused with devasted villages (Hódos, Kustyán, Páta). It became a district seat in the second part of the 19th century but its urban development started only in the last.
