The Empire Theatre could be a former Broadway theatre placed on forty second Street in Manhattan, big apple town. Originally opened because the Eltinge forty second Street Theatre, in 1912, it had been designed by noted theatre creator Thomas W. Lamb, and named for general Eltinge. Originally specializing in lightweight comedies, it suffered throughout the nice Depression and have become 1st a burlesque theatre, then a cinema in 1942. It had been renamed the Empire Theatre in 1954, when the demolition of the previous theatre of the name.
In 1998, as a part of the renewal of forty second Street semiconductor diode by the New forty second Street coalition and realty developer Bruce Ratner, the whole theatre was raised off its foundation and stirred westward close to one hundred seventy feet (52 m). In its new location, the shell of the theatre area was reborn into a lobby and lounge for a 25-screen AMC Theatres multiplex, the AMC Empire twenty five, with escalators resulting in the fresh engineered auditoriums passing through the previous arch of the stage.
